Research Overview

Many of the metallic materials used in our daily lives are first solidified from the liquid state (solidification) and then plastically deformed (plastic working) to obtain the desired shape.
During these macroscopic processing operations, microscopic structural evolution occurs simultaneously, creating the material quality itself.
This process can thus be described as one of simultaneous shape and quality formation.
By visualizing and accurately understanding the phenomena occurring during solidification and plastic deformation through both experiments and simulations, we are developing innovative processing methods to create new materials.
