SICORP Japan-China Energy-Environmental Core: Japan-China E2C

Objective

Our international joint research project aims to develop Japan-China sustainable joint research hubs specializing in energy-environmental science and technology for future societies through international collaboration between universities and companies in Japan and China.  We also promote research and development along with industry-academia collaboration to regionally implement the integrated technology system and foster human resources as mediators through research and development activities.

Background

Innovative technology development focusing on energy and environment is crucial for  science and technology in both Japan and China.   Nagoya University is internationally dominant in the field of materials science, whereas  Shanghai Jiao Tong University is highly recognized worldwide for their ceramics research. We aim to develop collaboration hubs to enhance new technological development and promote a research system accessible to the society together.

Plan

We develop the energy-efficient technology such as battery and catalyst, the technology to remove particles in the environment (purification), the technology to collect and fix global warming carbon dioxide (the technology to cope with global warming).  In parallel, we develop each technology seed and realize integration of the technologies which satisfy industry needs.

We also promote collaborative open innovation between Japan and China by stationing a Japanese technical producer in China.
